Delightful Decor....Have you got it all?

Planning a wedding is such a daunting task and it's so easy to forget something so simple!

I've put together this checklist (that you can also print off - I recommend printing it twice - once to go through as you get bits, the other to check off when setting up) to help you think of all the little bits you may need to get to decorate your wedding! (To download the checklists, go to the link at the bottom of the post)

Signs

I can do all your signs (and stationery) for you on a digital download basis (where you print them - it's very budget-friendly) - or there are places like Etsy and Vistaprint where you can also get them done (Vistaprint is also good for printing digital designs - alternatively you can use your home printer on smaller items for more savings!).

Signs may seem like something small and insignificant but remember, without certain signs, people won't know where they are going. Not just that, but you'd be surprised at the impact they can make on the overall look!

  • Welcome Sign

  • Pick a seat, not a side

  • Reserved Seat sign

  • Carryable signs such as 'Daddy, here comes Mummy' for the flower girl/ring bearer to carry down the aisle.

  • Directional signs (how will they know where to go otherwise?)

  • Wedding # sign if you are Instagramming your photo's

  • Social media photo's sign (if you do/don't want them posting before your official ones. If you do, include the hashtag for them to tag in the pics)

  • Cocktail party welcome sign

  • Menu Sign

  • Bar List

  • Gift Sign

  • Family photo sign - This shares who's in each photo so guests don't have to wonder. These can also be done to tribute to those who can't be with us (in memory of...)

  • No Cell Phones/Photography sign

  • Table Numbers/Names

  • Place Cards/Table Plan

  • Sparklers/Bubbles/Confetti Signs

  • Schedule

  • Sign to point out wedding programmes

  • Marquee Letters/words - these add a certain look to your décor

  • Photobooth signs

  • Signs for your chairs ('Bride' 'Groom' 'Lucky Him' 'Lucky Her')

  • Dessert table and items

  • Favours table sign or one to state that you've made a donation to a charity in their name etc.

  • Any Banners/Bunting you may like

Flowers/Floral Decor

Flowers really freshen up your wedding and bring the outside in.

Traditionally, a bouquet of flowers had the purpose of masking an unpleasant body odour (most people had a yearly bath in March so April/June weddings became the norm as they had recently washed, the flowers covered the unpleasant odour they had accumulated by this point). Over time, different ones were used to symbolise different things such as local flora, ivy, thistle and heather in the belief that they had mystical protective powers.

In modern times, none of this is the case (except in certain religious circles) so your flowers don't have to be local or even fresh! You could have artificial ones to help those with allergies.

Ceremony Decorations

This part of the wedding requires the least amount of decor because they'll be looking at you, not the room. It's a good idea to make sure that you have everything that you need/want for this part though as this is what you'll remember most.

Reception Decorations

In the Reception, there is more time for them to look around while you are mingling so more decoration is needed here

This where the most time will be spent so you want it to look just right.

  • Tables/Chairs - sometimes these are already provided, sometimes you'll have to hire them (the same goes for the crockery)

  • Wedding couple chair decoration

  • Guestbook table

  • Gift Table/Card Box

  • Send-off bubbles/sparklers/confetti

  • Candles (It's advisable to opt for battery-operated ones to avoid fire risks)

  • Centrepieces

  • Wedding Cake stand, knife, server and topper

  • Champagne toasting flutes

  • Sweet containers

  • Wedding Favors

  • Place cardholders
